Argh, temptation, it’s everywhere – From the super hot guy who is giving you bedroom eyes across the room while your boyfriend stands next to you to the Woolworth’s Check out aisle and it’s array of goodies that somehow hop into your basket without you knowing it (that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it)
Temptation is and will always be a problem in anyone’s life who is trying to follow a healthier lifestyle or lose a few extra kg’s – lets face it, unless your taste buds are broken, a stick of celery is never going to taste as good as a Top Deck (I love Top Deck, I like my chocolate “cheap and easy”), and Celery isn’t as readily available as Top Deck honestly, which is why so many people end up falling off their eating program by having a chocolate instead of a good healthy alternative (I know I do)
Sometimes it is really really hard to say no, I know this, I struggle daily.
Simple things such as saying “No, I don’t need chocolate peanuts,” “No, I don’t want a piece of cake,” “No, I don’t want to skip a workout,” ‘No, I don’t want to look at the dessert menu,” are all really hard to say when you haven’t had chocolate in over a week and you fear forgetting what it tastes like.
This is my advice to you, (it may not work for you, but it works for me – so try it out) avoidance. I know I am struggling with cheating at the moment, so I am avoiding places where I may cheat like the plague because I NEED to reach my goal by the 31st of August and if I don’t I will just feel worse about myself.
Avoidance – it takes 2 weeks to make a habit and 3 seconds to break it, so make you habits strong by avoiding all temptation for 2 weeks, it is two weeks out of you life you guys – it’s not the end of the world, and get all the healthy, happy habits into a great routine in those two weeks and I swear when you come out of your two week hiatus from society and cheating you will be ready to take on the world and all the cake in the world without wanting to eat it all!
