So you may not know this about me, but I am really into music.
Sadly I don’t play any instruments because my fingers don’t bend (a story for another day)
I remember when I first moved to South Africa some 8 years, I asked my Dad for DSTV and he said “No!” just out right like that, there was no room for negotiation and I was so upset! The first thought that ran through my head was “HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO WATCH TRL AND FIND OUT ALL THE LATEST MUSIC NOW?” (I only found out Carson Daly got thin a year or so after he got thin post the move to South Africa, thanks Dad!)
I guess I have always had to know about the coolest bands and the newest things in music for a long time.
So I thought I would start sharing some cool stuff that I have found lately. I listen to a lot of different genres, so there will be a little bit of everything in these reviews going forward.
So, without further delay – Years & Years “Commission”
So genre wise, these guys fall under “Synth Pop, Electronica and House” but they fall under the genre of awesome if this album is anything to go on.
I really was so impressed with every track on this album, it is very rare to find an album where all the songs are enjoyable usually the first single the artist releases off the album is good and it carries album sales (unless you are Taylor Swift that is, that woman is a song writing goddess who the rules do not apply to)
Tay Tay aside, the Years & Years album is really good, easy to listen to and catchy. I found myself humming it without even knowing. Put it in you car and listen to it on the way to work, I promise it will make your taxi anger 32% less extreme.
I really like quite a few of the songs off the album, so picking a favourite song was hard but I did and I hope you enjoy it.
Get the album if you can, I subscribe to Deezer and downloaded the album there (for free! Well free after my R60 a month premium subscription)
